An Odd List of Gratitude

Anyone who knows me could tell you what I am thankful for. Those items are probably on your list too. So as Thanksgiving day approaches, I thought I would combine a list of gratitude, with a drinking game. I have come up with a list of what I am thankful for, with the criteria for inclusion being something that wouldn’t be on anybody else’s list.

So let me know if any of these items are on YOUR list. I dare you.

  • I am thankful that I did not marry the Chinese gentleman who offered me $25,000 to become his bride so he could stay in the country legally.
  • I am thankful that when my grandfather died, I was old enough to be included in digging up his arm from the backyard so it could be buried with the rest of his body.
  • I am thankful that while working at the Provo Daily Herald in the 1970s, it wasn’t me who mistakenly typeset Kyle Shittingham, instead of Whittingham…and allowed it to get published (go Utah…beat the Kittens this weekend).
  • I am thankful that my brother-in-law didn’t laugh in my face when I asked him how to make a baked potato, because I am so domestically challenged.
    • I am thankful that when the polygamist father around the corner bashed in my car’s windshield with a baseball bat, nobody got hurt.
    • I am thankful that it wasn’t me as a teenager who was chasing Donny Osmond around in Provo until he stopped his car, got out and chastised me. (Oh wait, that was me. Never mind.)

    And finally,

    • I am thankful I live amidst white, Mormon, Republican, heterosexuals…because it builds character.

    What is on YOUR list?

    1. I may not have any of these items on my own list, however, I’m thankful that you shared your list. :)

    2. LOL! Thanks for sharing your list. It made me think about those things in my life that on the surface I may not be grateful for but they definitely open my eyes to the diversity of creation and assist me in my life’s journey to be a more open and tolerant person. I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
